The Medicare EHR Incentive Program under the ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act) of 2009 provides a financial incentive for providers who demonstrate "meaningful use" of certified EHR technology to achieve health and efficiency goals.
By adopting a certified EHR, Providers will enjoy the following benefits:
- Financial incentive consisting of 75% of “Medicare Allowed” payments up to $44,000 per practitioner, i.e., a clinic with 3 providers will receive $132,000
- Reduced errors and better availability of patient records
- Increased productivity with timely reminders and notification features

- Automated e-prescribing and refill system
Time is running out for providers who plan to apply for the full $44,000 stimulus incentive. HCT recommends you to register with CMS as soon as possible.
It is not necessary to have an EHR in place in order to register your intent. HCT will assist with your CMS registration free of charge. By using our service you will utilize our EMR platform (OpenEMR) which has passed CMS ‘Meaningful Use’ certification.
- If you do not demonstrate Meaningful Use by 2015, your Medicare payments will be penalized by 1-5%.
